The Civil Engineering Department is committed to contribute excellence in research, scientific and technical education to the nation.
• To impart quality education for fundamental knowledge in engineering science and technology with social responsibilities.
• To develop the engineering background of students towards employability, entrepreneurship and higher learning.
• To undertake collaborative projects to create opportunities for long-term industry-academic interactions.
• To develop continuous improvement in teaching learning process.
The Civil Engineering Department was established in the year 1965. The department presently acting as the State Referral Institute (SRI) for Water Quality Monitoring of the state.
The department is acting as State Technical Agency (STA), Tripura, constituted by National Rural Road Development Agency (NRRDA), New Delhi for scrutiny of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
The department is also acting as the State Resource Institute for Earthquake and Disaster Mitigation and Management of the state. The main areas of research include Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Hydroinformatics and Seismic Science & Engineering.
The Department of Civil Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Agartala (NITA) is committed to fostering excellence in education, research, and innovation in the field of civil engineering. As one of the oldest and most dynamic branches of engineering, civil engineering plays a pivotal role in shaping infrastructure, sustainability, and the built environment.
Prof. Deb Dulal Tripura
We emphasize industry-oriented learning, hands-on training, and interdisciplinary research in areas such as structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, water resources, and environmental engineering. Our students actively engage in projects, internships, and collaborations that bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world applications.
As we move forward, the department remains committed to advancing civil engineering through innovation, sustainability, and excellence. I encourage students, researchers, and industry professionals to collaborate with us in building a better future.
